Interview – The Ohio Weather Band

The Ohio Weather Band is known for its Americana rock and rootsy qualities. This 4-piece from Alliance, Ohio consists of Corey King (guitar, vocals), Derek Strata (bass, vocals), Ray Lumpp (keys, vocals) and Pete Childerson (drums, percussion). Corey had a solo career before The Ohio Weather Band was created and began working with Ray and Derek around 2010. Ray then moved away for a while so Pete stepped in as the band’s new drummer. Once the band was named one of the “Best Unsigned Bands” of Northeast Ohio, they decided to enter the studio and release their first EP. Ray has since returned to the band as a keyboard player and they released a self-titled album just this year. Corey, Derek, Ray and Pete solely recorded and mixed The Ohio Weather Band record. Their DIY approach and dedication intrigued me so I sent them some fill in the blanks.
