Interview – Caught Up In A Dream

Back in 2009, singer-songwriter Dylan Bowers started a new project titled Caught Up In A Dream. Dylan has drawn inspiration as a musician from life and the obstacles he has overcome. His determination and perseverance fueled him to write his debut record titled Mountains & Milestones. He worked with LA-based producer Mike Hart to create the 5-track EP which was released this November. It will feature the single “Reoccurring Arguments Can Harm Everyone’s Lives.” Be sure to check out the record and learn more about Dylan from his responses below.

Three words I’d use to describe myself are…. strong, passionate, and crazy.

My favorite season is…. I love the fall time, I don’t know why. I just always loved it.

I knew I wanted to pursue music… for as long as I could remember! My parents have photos of me at two years old yelling into a toy mic with a blow up guitar. Even growing up I used to love music no matter what it was. At age 10 I started playing guitar, and then my first band was at 14.

The first song I wrote was…. “Search the World,” and this song brings back some memories. My best friend and I wrote it in my his living room, and we recorded it with webcam. I’ve come a long way since then. Mountains & Milestones shows that.

I find inspiration from…. Inspiration comes mainly in solitude where I can think on my own and act on my own. Long drives are the best! I just have lyrics pop in my head all the time! Life! I write mainly on what I think, see, what happens to me. Even a news story or something my Dad or Mom said to me.

Something I hope to accomplish as a musician is…. I hope to have a fan of my music tell me how my song has helped them. I write these songs, and they help me. I put them out to help others however it may be.

My favorite song of all time is…. Impossible! I can’t answer this, for it’s always is changing! Currently my favorite song that I can’t stop listening to “Caterpillar” by I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody’s Business.

I’m currently listening to…. The Academy is.. “Down and Out”

One thing I want you to remember while listening to my music is…. These songs are stories of overcoming through reflection. They are stories of times that I have overcome.

Mountains & Milestones was recorded in…. Sonar Vision Recording at the time In Cornwall, NY. SVR have moved down to Florida shortly after my EP was tracked. Mike Hart mixed the record, and Tyler Smyth from Dangerkids mastered it. This is my debut! I hope people like it. I’ve spent a lot of time on it.

Something odd I want my fans to know about me is…. I hate socks! I just do.

For fun I like to…. eat wings… So, sometimes I go out for wings and a drink, and go see a show in Ithaca every so often.

My last meal would be…. It would be coffee and donuts from Dunkin’ Donuts!

My favorite words to live by are…. just “persevere.” There is nothing we can’t do if we work hard and press on. It’s true; things get better, but you have to make it happen.

In the next six months you should expect…. Well, in the next six months I’m going to play a ton more shows! Everyone should look out for that, and come hang out with me. I’m shooting a music video soon. Stay on the look out for that!
