Kat Quinn is an indie pop songstress whose music is reminiscent of artists such as Ingrid Michaelson, A Fine Frenzy, and Zoey Deschanel of She & Him. Verily Magazine describes Quinn as someone who “manages to have a lightness and depth at the same time” which is clearly evident in her music. Quinn has a wide array of experience in the song-wrting world, and was even put to the test on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon when she was asked to join the “Battle of the Instant Songwriters”. Quinn managed to write and perform a song revolving around the title “Clouds Are people Too” in less than an hour — if that doesn’t impress you, I don’t know what will. Quinn has a beautiful collection of songs on Spotify, but most recently she released “Phoenix”, which is a soft yet enchanting song that features a distinctive harmony. When coupled with the tambourine and guitar, “Phoenix” comes alive to create the perfect indie-folk piece that will stand the test of time. Each of Quinn’s songs convey a meaningful message while not sounding too dark and depressing like some music has the tendency to do. I look forward to hearing more of Quinn’s music down the road, but in the meantime check out her EP, Kind of Brave, here or her video for “Little Rose” below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BG3L32Wy7EM xx Danielle (Photos courtesy of http://www.katquinnmusic.com)
