Three words we’d use to describe us are….Passionate, honest, and driven would be the three words that I think fit us best. People throw the phrase, “music is life” around so nonchalant these days, but for us it truly is. It’s the one true passion we have in life and everything else revolves around it. We also strive to show our true colors through our music and lyrics. If we are going through struggles in our lives, we want to translate it through our music and lyrics. We are all trying to find our way through this journey we call life and if we can help anyone along the way it makes it much more rewarding.
The story/meaning behind our name Come and Rest is….Come and Rest to us means a place of serenity and trust. We want to our fans to come to our shows and be able to release their inner anger and sadness with us while we are performing. We don’t want to appear better than anyone just because we are on a stage. We relate to everyone in the crowd in one way or another.
We met each other….Mitchell and Josh met through a rec sports team when they were in their early teens, lost contact pretty quickly after, but their paths crossed again a few years later in the local GA music scene after both of them had joined local bands and started playing shows around the area. Josh had met Daniel through a mutual friend a little bit later on, and after one of his bands broke up they got together and decided to form what became Come and Rest. Missing a drummer they brought Mitchell on board shortly after writing some of the early music. Noel had actually just moved to GA from Miami in early 2011 and was trying out for different bands in the area that the rest of us were good friends with. Josh happened to be at that bands practice space and after overhearing Noel’s vocals he decided to attempt to recruit him for C//R. He somehow overheard Noel giving his phone number to one of the other bands members and went ahead and put it in his phone number in his contacts without Noel’s knowledge (laughs). He called Noel a few days later and convinced him to come out to a practice session and the rest is history!
The pickiest eater is….Dan, by a long shot is the pickiest eater. He is into fitness and clean eating, a hard thing to stick to while on tour, but he somehow makes it work. Protein bars and gallons of water are his life blood.
The most OCD member is….That’s a tricky one…We all have our own OCD moments. Mitchell is very OCD about driving the perfect speed for gas mileage, Noel is the mom of the band when it comes to cleanliness, and Dan is the gear protector (laughs). So, I suppose the only way to answer this question is to say that Josh is the least OCD of all of us.
For fun we like to….We’re fans of watching creepy and weird YouTube videos and then quoting them for hours. The usual I guess (laughs). We have some pretty intense inside jokes that keep us entertained. We also have been known to write and record random rap and country songs in our free time while we are home.
We’re currently listening to….We like a wide variety of music. Some of our favorites right now would include, The Deftones, Bring me the Horizon, Sam Hunt, The Neighborhood, Post Malone, Drake, Lana de Rey, Chvrches, Two-9, Stray From the Path… The list could go on forever.
Our favorite 90s jams include….That’s a good one. The 90’s were stacked with great bands. Some of our favorites would be, The Deftones, Rage Against the Machine, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Nirvana, Korn, Red Hot Chili Peppers, No Doubt, Smashing Pumpkins, and Weezer.
Our favorite tracks to play live include….I think we all have different favorite tracks, but our top three would be “Slowburn,” “Millennials,” and “Soapbox.” Those just have so much energy live.
The first song we wrote together was….Oh, man… That was a long time ago. The very first song we wrote as a full band was called “Wanderlust.” That song is long lost in the catalog of music we have written over the years, and for good reason (laughs).
Blacklist was recorded in….We actually recorded Blacklist in our house. The producer, Chris Galvez, drove down to us from IL and tracked the whole thing in Mitchell’s bedroom. It was a great experience to record the album in the same space we wrote the songs. It felt like we were bringing everything full circle.
One thing we want you to remember while listening to our music is….The humanity behind the record. We were all going through some pretty rough things around the time we wrote and recorded Blacklist and we wanted to display that through the album. We hope the 5 songs translate those struggles directly to the listener.
Something odd we want our fans to know about us is….We make some of the ugliest faces every known to man to each other as an inside joke. It’s honestly pretty horrifying (laughs). We will even spend hours Snapchatting each other ugly pictures while we’re in the same van.
We’re absolutely terrified of….Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared… If you don’t know what that is, go type it in YouTube and watch it at your own discretion.
Our last meals would be….Chipolte, for sure. They have become a favorite of all of us while on the road. I think we could all die happy with that in our stomachs.
In the next six months you should expect….A lot more touring in places we have never been to before, plus some festivals we will be jumping on. Be sure to keep up with us on Facebook to catch a show near you!
