Interview – Down To Friend | Kryptonite Music Magazine

Down To Friend is a 6-piece pop-punk band from Dallas, Texas consisting of Randy (vocals), Roger (guitar), Jimbo (guitar), Kris (drums), SX (brutal vocals, electronics, keys), and Danny (bass). Their debut EP “So Awesome, It’s Stupid” was released in the summer of 2013. It helped DTF to kick off their career and acquire fans across the US. Their great sense of humor, easygoing attitude, and obsession with parties led to their nickname, “Pop Punk Party Kings.” They recently released a new single titled “Unauthorized Party of Destruction” so I sent over some fill in the blanks to see what the party kings are all about.

The meaning behind the name Down To Friend is….It’s like Down To F***, but a little more friendly lol

We met each other….Well, most of us have been friends for a really long time. But Jimbo, Kris, and Roger were in a previous band together and left that band to start DTF.

The pickiest eater in the band is….That would probably be SX. He usually goes off and eats by himself lol

The most OCD member is….Danny for sure. Danny boy over-analyzes everything.

For fun we like to….Party! DUH lol

We’re currently listening to….Well, there’s only a small handful of bands that we ALL like. But one of them would definitely be Attila.

We find inspiration from….Partying, pizza, drinking, smoking, friends.. the usual lol

If we play another band’s music it’s….The only thing we’ve played full band would be a cover we did of Motley Crue’s “Kickstart My Heart.” But sometimes we jam around for fun and play some New Found Glory, Fall Out Boy, a Nelly song and other things too.

The first song we wrote together was…. “Count Me Out” was the first song we wrote together actually. It used to have different lyrics and was originally titled “If You Love It So Much, Why Don’t You Marry It.” I think we made the right choice on that change lol

One thing we want you to remember while listening to our music is….Have fun! Life is short so enjoy it while you can. We want people to party to our music and have a great time.

The member(s) who writes most of our songs is….Actually we all put in a big part of the writing. We all come from different musical backgrounds and we try to portray that as much as possible.

Our craziest or most memorable gig was….It would probably be the time that Roger accidentally busted Danny’s head open with a guitar on stage. Blood was everywhere, it was crazy. But Danny kept playing like a boss. Made for really awesome pictures. Lol

The furthest we’ve ever traveled for a gig was….Right now that would Houston, TX. But we plan on fixing that next year ; )

Our last meals would be….Pizza! Of course lol

In the next six months you should expect….We’re heading into the studio in November to record a few more songs, so definitely expect some new songs. We plan on hitting the road next year and meeting all of our awesome fans. And we’re also going to do another music video. We’ve got a lot of things we’re working on and we’re very excited about the future.
