Oh, Darling Promo-5

Three words I’d use to describe myself are….Creative, passionate, stick.

My favorite season is….Winter. There is something strangely therapeutic about being inside knowing it’s outrageously cold outside. Plus when it snows, it looks really nice and stuff.

For fun I like to….Make music, watch films, listen to music, eat unhealthily.

I find inspiration from….Anything. The music I make takes a lot of inspiration from anything I listen to and end up liking. I think it’s the same for any form of art work, if you like other forms of the same artwork, you’re inevitably going to be influenced in some way by it. But also more physical inspiration, my girlfriend, things that happen and things like that.

I knew I wanted to pursue music when….I picked up my first guitar. I know it sounds heinously cliche, but there’s no other way of putting it. Picking up a guitar, and being able to play it just set my off, I knew it was something I never wanted to not be able to do. Even going a week without my guitar hurts me a little inside…

I’m currently listening to….The Staves ‘If I Was’ album in its entirety. Those harmonies man.

The first song I wrote was….A really awful song called “I Won’t Let You Go.” It was literally right when I first started, so my songwriting style was all over the place and it was just terrible haha.

Something I learned from creating Ashes, Darkest Hour and Closer is….To never throw away songs until you’ve recorded them and heard what they sound like as an actual recorded song. A few of the songs I included on each EP were extremely average in my head, but when I sat down and recorded them, they ended up being my favorite on each EP. So always give songs a chance to be explored and layered!

One thing I want you to remember while listening to my music is….That it was written from personal experience about things you almost certainly are feeling or have felt.

My craziest or most memorable gig was….Supporting Gabrielle Aplin at her Shepherds Bush Empire gig in London in November 2013. One of the craziest nights of my life, and I will honestly never forget the feeling of being on a stage that large in front of a crowd that big, supporting such a lovely musician.

My favorite tracks to play live include…. “Closer,” “Falling” and “Shadows in the Dark.” I just really enjoy putting energy into these songs live, and they are just fun songs to sing. A cover of Sam Cooke’s A Change Is Gonna Come usually makes its way into a setlist too, as hitting that high note at the end makes me happy every time…

Something odd I want my fans to know about me is….That I can’t… bottom burp… when I’m walking. I just can’t do it. I have to stop mid walk to let one rip…

My last meal would be….A chicken, stuffing and bacon sandwich from Tescos and a packet of mini cheddars. Living the high life I know.

I’m absolutely terrified of….Having a song turn out awful when I record it. Or spiders. I genuinely fear spiders possibly too much.

In the next six months you should expect….More songs and covers on my youtube, possibly some news regarding new EP’s or an album or something but nothing is set in stone!
