Interview – Bobby Vaughn (The Promise Hero)

The following  fill in the blanks come from a local artist named Bobby Vaughn. Danielle and I saw Bobby of The Promise Hero perform a simple acoustic set at the Hawthorne Heights show last month. I’d best describe their sound as a blend of a variety of pop punk bands from the late 90’s into the 00’s. The band formed back in 2006, got signed by TDR records, and immediately started writing. They’ve worked with Jamie Woolford for both of their LP records, The Promise Hero and Déjà Vû. The Promise Hero has gained publicity and fans from touring with artists such as State Champs, Candy Hearts, Hawthorne Heights, and Every Avenue. They have a bunch of shows lined up so I sent over some fill in the blanks to learn more about frontman Bobby Vaughn. Come with us to the Foundry tomorrow night to see them perform with The Orphan, The Poet.

Three words I’d use to describe myself are…. quiet, optimistic, content.

My favorite season is…. summer.

I knew I wanted to pursue music when…. I saw how much fun my older brother was having with his band.

The first song I wrote was…. probably similar sounding to a song off an early mxpx album.

I find inspiration from…. everyone I meet.

Something I hope to accomplish as a musician is…. write music that the whole world can enjoy and support everyone involved with the band.

My favorite song of all time is…. iTunes is telling me it is “In My Room” by the Beach Boys.

My favorite concert was…. probably Blink 182 in 2000, I was amazed and inspired.

I’m currently listening to…. everything from top 40 to up and coming bands like Light Years and some jazz.

One thing I want you to remember while listening to my music is…. I wrote and recorded it because it’s a lot of fun and hope to continue doing it forever.

For fun I like to…. hot tub.

Something odd I want my fans to know about me is…. I love all of you more than you know.

My last meal would be…. maybe all of the sandwiches from Melt.

My favorite words to live by are…. anything is possible.

In the next six months you should expect….plenty more tour dates, bigger and better live shows, and hopefully a new album announcement!
